Image Analysis

Image 1:

Meaning behind the image

The black circle represents the subjects mind and how they feel trapped by their illness. The colour eludes to depression

It relates to my second artist model Antonio Palemirini as I used blurring and high conrast to give a feeling of mystery and uncertainty.

This image also relates to my third arist model their idea of the black circle inspired this image. I also tried to keep it simplistic

The image is centered to create impact and draw the eye to the main subject. this is emphasised by the contrast between her skin and the black circle.

In this series I foussed on being simplistic taken from my artist model Noell Oszvald. And the idea of out of body/ out of mind experiences which can be another symptom of dissociation

Meaning behind the image

The hand reaching out of the black circle links to the previous image the circle represeting their mind. Out of body experiences are common in dissociative episodes and the hand reaching out shows how they have left their mind behind. The use of colour further emphasises this as all of the series leading up where in black and white and foccused mainly in the mind of the subject the use of colour shows how they have broken out.

I have used the rule of thirds in this image to make the composition more interesting I also achieved this by taking the picture from a high angle.

This relates to my artist model by keeping it simplistic.

Image 3

Meaning behind the image

The subject is shrouded in a black haze in the shape of a circle which is inspired my artist model it also links back to the forst two images and the idea of outer body experiences. The hand is in colour whilst the rest of the image is in black and white this is to draw the eye to the focal point of the image being the hand. The significance of it carsessing her face is to convey the idea that they are looking down on themselves and are trying to help however thay are helpless to do anything as if they are on the other side of a glass wall.

The placement of the subject makes the composition more interesting by having her eyes on a third line as well as the middle of her body.

The background is white to contrast the black surrounding the subject it also invites the ideas of relief and that  disscoiation can also be a form of protection allowing you to dissconnect with your body in order to minimise psychological trauma.

Image 4

Meaning behind the image

The mirror represents the mind much as the black circle in the three previous images which is why I blacked out the mirror to symbolise the depression the subject feels. Inside the mirror is black and white which contrasts the colour of the models hand. I used the first image in this series inside the mirror to show how the subject is having out of body experiences due to their dissociation. And how they feel trapped in their mind as if they are behind glass.

I have used the rule of thirds and an interesting to make the composition more interesting I also darkened the bckground f the image to create contrat between the light hand allowing it to become the focal point of the image.

This imgage relates to my artist model through the use of the black circle idea and the simplicity I have tried to incorporate from their work.
